PEOPLE PROBLEMS DRAIN PROFITS.
If you are in business, it is people driven! The most important asset your company has is its team members. The people in your company are the catalyst to future success or failure. Which road you travel depends greatly on how you or your staffing provider selects your employees.
The Cornerstone Program was developed by Peak Employment Solutions as a compliment to our “Peak-Screening” process to address the growing trend of the deterioration or lack of work ethic, safety and job skills in today’s workforce. Workforce Development starts with a strong pre-screening process- targeting and measuring any of the following, depending upon the requirements of the position and goal of the employer:
- candidate personality analysis
- workplace attitude and behavior
- potential risk tendencies
- skills profile and potential skills aptitude
- candidate potential
- work ethic and job performance
- efficiency
- overall capacity to contribute to the overall mission of the employer
These are all measurable traits. We have found that the majority of the issues facing business today from the available workforce are based upon behavior and candidate’s perception of acceptable behavior and their general belief system when it comes to contributing as an employee.
The Cornerstone Program actually contains three distinct, yet circular missions-
Cornerstone Emerging Workforce:
Those emerging from high school or college sometimes require transitioning to the “real world” of business and industry. Instructing these future workers not only how to acquire a job, but also how to maintain their position is paramount. Being that some or most have had no real exposure to the workplace, emphasis here should be on determining, defining and injecting work ethic, personal responsibility and workplace behavioral attitude, measuring candidate skill sets and identifying potential work and career options. A strong emphasis here for the new worker should also be a fundamental understanding and tutorial on workplace safety. This is achieved through The Peak Safe Worker Program-which was designed as a primer in employee awareness, attitude, behavior and responsibility towards creating and maintaining a safe work environment.

Cornerstone Candidate Development:
WORK ETHIC:
Common issues-
- Tardiness/Absenteeism
- Unprofessional dress/hygiene/grooming
- Poor problem-solving skills
- Inability to work without constant supervision
- Inappropriate language and gestures
- Complaining, fault-finding and other negative attitudes
- Not taking appropriate initiative
- Rudeness to co-workers, vendors and customers
Potential job candidates or employees may be very skilled in their particular trade or vocation, but sorely lack the most rudimentary life and work skills- most commonly referred to as “work ethic”. These are, once again, most commonly linked to their overall perception of what is “right” or “wrong”, their belief structure and lack of personal responsibility. There is a host of training available to employees and employers to address this problem. The Cornerstone Program approaches this dilemma through a process of ethics training, focusing primarily upon personal responsibility and choices. These are a number of ethical teachings of personal responsibility, providing clarity and guidance on how to interact creatively with the organization’s vision ensuring success.
